‘Madhusudan Kumar Productions’ was established by Madhusudan Kumar in 1970. ‘Kadambari’ a Hindi feature film was produced under this banner in 1975. The film was termed as ‘trend setter’ by the renowned film critics of those years. The film starring Shabana Azmi and Vijay Arora is based on the novel “Dharti Sagar aur Sipiyan” by Jnanpeeth Award winning author Amrita Pritam. Ustad Vilayat Khan scored the music for the film - the only Hindi film he had composed music for after Satyajit Ray’s award winner ‘Jalsa Ghar’ (Music Salon) in Bengali. The Film won five "Filmfare Awards" in 1975. Madhusudan Kumar was associated in the making of several promotional films including for Rajiv Gandhi, Indira Gandhi and contributed to the making of TV serial Ek Kahani. He produced and directed docu-feature film “In the eyes of Picasso-Kala Ghoda” in 2002. He was executive producer for documentary film on marital violence “Char Diwari - (Behind the closed doors)” for Ministry of External Affairs.
